The Atlantic ocean is home to a multitude of islands with diverse landscapes and fascinating histories. Among the most well-known are the Canary islands, located off the coast of Africa, offering pleasant year-round weather and spectacular volcanic scenery, like Mount Teide on Tenerife. Further north, the Azores, a Portuguese archipelago, captivate visitors with their lush valleys, crater lakes and rich marine biodiversity, drawing nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Closer to the American continent, the Caribbean is a collection of paradise islands bathed by the warm waters of the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean sea. Among them, the Bahamas, Barbados and Puerto Rico are famous for their white sandy beaches, coral reefs and rich multicultural heritage. These islands also carry a complex colonial history, reflected in their architecture and traditions.
Finally, farther south, the Atlantic is home to more isolated lands like Tristan da Cunha island, the most remote in the world and the Fernando de Noronha archipelago off the coast of Brazil, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its exceptional marine wildlife. Not to forget Saint Helena island, famous for hosting Napoleon in exile. These often lesser-known islands offer wild, untouched landscapes, ideal for exploration and discovery.
