Paros Island, nestled in the heart of the Aegean Sea between the islands of Naxos to the east and Antiparos to the west, is part of the Cyclades archipelago in Greece. Thanks to its geographical location, the island enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers.
Less touristy than its neighbor Mykonos, Paros Island appeals with its authentic Greek charm, idyllic beaches, and picturesque villages lined with dazzling whitewashed houses.
Picturesque villages
Paros Island is famous for its traditional villages with cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses, characteristic of the Cyclades. Parikia, the island's capital, is a lively port town that welcomes visitors as soon as they arrive. As you stroll through its narrow streets, you will discover local craft shops, welcoming tavernas, and historic buildings such as the impressive Church of Panagia Ekatontapyliani, known as « Our Lady of a Hundred Doors », one of the oldest Byzantine churches in Greece.

The village of Naoussa, one of Paros's gems, is a former fishing port that has preserved its old-world charm while adapting to modern life. Its narrow streets lined with restaurants, bars, and shops create an atmosphere that is both cosmopolitan and laid-back. In the evening, the port of Naoussa comes alive, and visitors can enjoy fresh seafood at local tavernas overlooking the fishing boats moored in the harbor.
For an even deeper immersion in traditional island life, head to Lefkes, a mountain village offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. Its quiet streets, traditional houses, and Byzantine churches make it an ideal place to discover the essence of Cycladic life away from the bustle of the coast.
How to Get There
Located just about 93 miles as the crow flies southeast of Athens and served by regular ferries connecting it with other Cycladic islands such as Mykonos, Santorini, and Syros, Paros Island is a central stop for visitors exploring the Cyclades.
